Bohlke Earns Approval for Transponder Checks
FAA certifies Bohlke repair station to perform biennial checks on aircraft transponders
Christiansted, St. Croix, (March 20, 2017) – The 145 repair station, Tradewinds Flight Center, LLC, CRS #: 6TDR745C dba as Bohlke International Airways (Bohlke) Maintenance, was recently awarded a certificate from The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct pitot static transponder checks. Every aircraft flying in Class C airspace and above is required to obtain said checks once every 24 months. This capability is a first for Bohlke, as having a part 145 repair station (which they established in October 2016), is a requirement to conduct transponder checks. The FAA certificate includes rating for limited airframe; engine; radio; and instruments.
“Pitot static transponder checks are a great way for clients to learn about the heavy maintenance we are capable of providing,” said Bohlke International Airways Director of Operations, Sam Black.
The repair station boasts a comprehensive list of aircraft on which they can now perform transponder checks. Additionally, with advance notice, it is possible to add nearly any type of aircraft to the repair station’s FAA-approved list. The checks will be available year-round, less one month each year for equipment to be calibrated off-island (which will take place off-season).
“We are pleased to add transponder checks to our list of maintenance capabilities,” said Bohlke Director of Maintenance, Matthew Jones. “We are working toward our RVSM certification as well, which will open our ability to check any N-registered aircraft.”
