| BIA currently has a staff of 26 employees and has been consistently rated in the top three Caribbean FBO's by Pro Pilot Magazine's Pilot Survey. |
William R. Bohlke, aka "Billy" is BIA's General Manager. His primary duties consist of practically everything. From flying as Captain on each of BIA's aircraft to ensuring all customers needs are met he wears all the hats.
Billy is a native of St. Croix was born on island along with his older sister Tammy.
Recently married to Laurie Campbell now Laurie Bohlke he is looking forward to the next generation in hopes of continuing the family business.
In his spare time he is an avid runner and a pilot in the Puerto Rico National Guard. |
Bill Bohlke, Jr. had his first official flight lesson at the age of ten, soloed at 16 and started flying commercially at age 18. Bill worked with Trans Caribbean Airways flying co-pilot on a 727 at the age of 21. Bill retired in the fall of 2005 as an International 777 Captain with American Airlines after nearly 38 years of flying with AA. He has also been an FAA Flight Examiner since the age of 24, which at the time made him the youngest FAA Examiner in the southern region. Bill still holds his Examiner Designation and gives flight tests ranging from private to airline transport. He now spends his time running the family business and primarily flying charters in his MU-2 Turbo-Prop. |
Ruth Ann Bohlke, aka "Tuddy" is BIA's Vice President. Her primary duties include but are not limited to accounts payable and assistant to her husband Bill Bohlke Jr.
Practically a native of St. Croix she moved to the island with her family in 1959. Her father was a lobster fisherman from Key Largo and decided the fishing would be better in the islands, at that time he was right. Back then St. Croix was virtually undiscovered and we all know that means lots of lobster! At the age of 17 she was set up on a blind date with the air cargo carrier's son. Just so happen's Bill Bohlke Sr. and Bill Jr. were flying her fathers' lobster off the island to Puerto Rico. The rest is history Bill and Tuddy were married at the young age of 19.
To this day her first love is with the sea, taking her dog Mootoo to the beach each and every day at sun rise. By the way Mootoo is short for MU-2 the aircraft type. |
William R. Bohlke is the third generation to run the BIA operations and fly charters. He also serves part-time with the Puerto Rico Air National Guard as a C130 pilot and runs in 5K and marathon races. |
Laurie Bohlke, is BIA's head of Customer Service. Like her husband she is utilized throughout the business. Although not a pilot she brings a wealth of organizational skills to the company and helps with day to day operations.
Laurie is a native of upstate New York and comes from a military background. She herself is a member of the Virgin Islands National Guard.
In her spare time she enjoys the island for what it is worth, the beach! |
